Myth #1: Insoles Hurt

This is perhaps one of the commonest misconceptions associated with Orthotics. It is not at all true. They should never hurt. In fact, their efficacy lies in their ability to reduce pain. Those using these devices might well require an initial break-in period to adjust, although this is not always required.

Myth #2: Your Feet Will Suffer

In fact, your feet end up gaining strength owing to improved mechanics. Understanding the function of these devices is very important. They are actually meant to support normal functions of your feet. Creating abnormalities is not their job.

Myth #3: They Are Meant For Senior Citizens

This is a major misconception – once again. It’s true that when people become old their ligaments and tendons tend to become weak and carry out normal functions. However, though this problem is more common among senior people, there is actually no reason to believe that the youth don’t experience these problems at all. Young people might well end up experiencing issues with their ankles and feet. If you are into sports or other rigorous activities you might end up requiring Orthotics.

Myth #4: I Can Wear Them Whenever I Have Problems

If you are experiencing decreased mobility or pain in the lower limb, then make sure you’re not trying to diagnose yourself.
